A place for autistic children and children with special Educational needs
A Nursery for Autistic children and children with Special Educational Needs aged 2 to 5 years.
We provide a safe and nurturing environment that enables young children to thrive in a place which optimises their growth and development potential. Your child will have the opportunity to explore and learn through play and structured activities which have been tailored to meet their additional needs around the Early Years Framework (EYFS).
As we are a special needs nursery specialising in autism and developmental learning difference, we have higher ratios than is required by the EYFS Statutory Framework. We have a 1:3 staff/child ratio across all children in the 2-5 year age range.
All our Early Years SEN Practitioners and assistants have regular training from internal & external multidisciplinary therapy teams who specialise in early intervention therapies.
Our EYFS programme has been adapted to cater for Autistic children and those with developmental differences.
We are open from 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday 48 weeks a year. We are closed for 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year, 1 week over the Easter period, 1 week over the summer, Bank Holidays and an additional 5 further days throughout the year to allow for staff training. These dates will be published in advance.
Parents must commit to a minimum of 3 half days.

FUNDING STREAMS
- We accept childcare vouchers
- We offer Funded Early years education for 15/30hrs
- Education and Healthcare Plan (EHCP) funding, we will work with families to make a request for an EHC Needs assessment.
*Additional Specialist Intervention charges apply to ALL nursery placements
CATERING
Due to many of our children having special dietary needs, we provide snacks and drinks only throughout the day and ask parents to provide packed lunches.
Admissions
It is our intention to make our setting accessible to children and families from all sections of the local community. However, as Ohana Centre is a combined therapy centre and nursery, it is targeted at autistic children and those with developmental differences. We aim to ensure that all sections of our community have access to the setting through open, fair and clearly communicated procedures.
Ohana Centre will carry out an initial assessment with one of our specialists from our Multidisciplinary team prior to admission to ensure that we can meet the needs of the child and provide the right level of support.

We use an APP - FAMLY to manage enquiries, and enrolment, recording your child's progress and for communication purposes. You will be required to enter personal data prior to your child's first day at nursery.
